Neurodiversity Affirming Assessment Workshop
$99.00
Location: Homestudy/On Demand
CEs: 3 APA-approved CEs
Presented by: Dr. Liz Angoff
Over the past few years, the concept of neurodiversity has become critical for how we think about neurodevelopmental diagnoses. However, there is still a significant disconnect between our evolving understanding of neurodiversity and the way we communicate with families, assess children, and write our reports.
Building on the APA guidelines for addressing cultural diversity, this talk will introduce tools and strategies for incorporating responsive practices for neurodiverse children and their families, considering a variety of diagnostic profiles.
Participants will leave this talk with specific strategies for:
- Intake: Engaging families as authentic collaborators by understanding the language they use and ways of communicating information.
- Testing: Eliciting the child’s lived experience.
- Feedback: Using real-world examples and relatable metaphors to increase understanding for both parents and children.
- Reports: Writing meaningful, accessible, and actionable reports.
