Neurodiversity Affirming Assessment Workshop
$99.00
Location: Homestudy/On Demand
CEs: 3 APA-approved CEs
Presented by: Dr. Liz Angoff
Over the past few years, the concept of neurodiversity has become critical for how we think about neurodevelopmental diagnoses. However, there is still a significant disconnect between our evolving understanding of neurodiversity and the way we communicate with families, assess children, and write our reports. Â
Building on the APA guidelines for addressing cultural diversity, this talk will introduce tools and strategies for incorporating responsive practices for neurodiverse children and their families, considering a variety of diagnostic profiles.
Participants will leave this talk with specific strategies for:
- Intake: Engaging families as authentic collaborators by understanding the language they use and ways of communicating information.
- Testing: Eliciting the child’s lived experience.
- Feedback: Using real-world examples and relatable metaphors to increase understanding for both parents and children.
- Reports: Writing meaningful, accessible, and actionable reports.
