What does neurodiversity-affirming mean?

Neurodiversity simply means that all brains are different in important and necessary ways.

These differences give us a unique perspective on the world.

While all our brains are different, most brains have a lot in common.  The world is built for “most brains.”

When a child is neurodivergent, it means that their brain is built in a way that is different than “most brains.”

This can make things challenging because the world was not built for them.

When we take a neurodiversity-affirming perspective to understanding our child’s diagnosis, it changes our lens from what’s wrong to what’s different.

Empower your neurodivergent child to understand their amazing brain! Check out our new book for parents.
